FAQs

easternstarWhy not just scan my photos myself?

You can!  If you have the time and energy to tackle those bags and boxes, it can be incredibly rewarding. But if you don’t have the time and energy for it, we can at least scan the photos for you before they deteriorate any further. Time takes its toll on those old photos, and once they’re damaged, there’s no going back.

What’s the best way to send my photos to you?

If you live in the Pacific Northwest, we can probably pick up and drop off your photos personally. If you live elsewhere, we recommend an overnight shipping service like Federal Express. That way the photos are packaged professionally and shipped with a tracking number and insurance. Please don’t use media mail or other “low and slow” shipping. It’s just too risky, and we’d rather lose your business than your photos!

My siblings and I all want the photos. Is it possible to make multiple copies?

Absolutely! In fact, this is one of the best reasons to use a service like Family Treasure Box. It’s also a great way to economize. Family groups can pitch in together to share the cost of scanning and restoration, and each person gets a complete set of images instead of divvying them up.

I feel like I should sort my photos first, but I don’t even know where to start.

You don’t need to sort or identify anything before we scan. We give a descriptive filename to each photo that includes the presumed date and any other info we can figure out. The important thing is that the photo is scanned, so the image is preserved. Later, when you have the time to look through the images, it’s easy to change the filenames to reflect changes in date or subject.

What about slides?

No problem! We also scan slides, by hand, in high resolution.
